PROJECT: Two Great Falls PLaza
LOCATION: Auburn, Maine
CLIENT: The TIM Corporation
SERVICES: Architect - Engineer - Construction Manager
Two Great Falls Plaza is a
65,000 square foot, seven story structural steel and concrete office building located in
downtown Auburn, Maine. Platz Associates was responsible for the Architecture,
Engineering, and Construction Management of this project.
The design and construction of this building is an example
of Platz Associates, ability to "fast track" a project, shortening the time
between initiation of design and completion of the building. Construction of this project
was started as soon as the foundation plan and steel design were completed. Further design
work continued as early phases of construction were under way. Quartz aggregate building
panels were premanufactured and shipped to the site ready for installation. This allowed
the panels to be manufactured inside during the cold winter months while steel was being
erected on the site. Total construction time was fourteen months.
Platz Associates also designed
the interior space of the building. This space includes a public lobby, a restaurant, U.S.
Post Office, accounting and brokerage firms as well as numerous medical office suites. A
state of the art energy management system makes the building extremely energy efficient.
Because of unique efficiencies and construction methods,
this building was able to be constructed for less than eighty dollars per square foot.
