Since our first construction management project in 1983, Platz Associates has managed construction contracts totaling over $50,000,000. Projects have ranged from individual small offices to multi-story office buildings and have included both rehabilitation and new construction. Our Construction Manager, Bruce Allen, has almost 28 years of construction experience, the last 16 as Construction Engineer for Platz Associates. The benefit most often cited for utilizing
construction management is cost savings. Because we provide construction management services for so many of the projects we design, our design staff is also involved in the construction process and visa versa: design and construction are not considered as separate functions. The results of this integration show up to the benefit of the client at both ends of the process. During design, our construction management team is involved from initial programming through the bid process to insure that designs are not only aesthetically pleasing and functional, but also cost efficient to build. It also means that they are fully knowledgeable of the plans before construction begins. During construction, our design staff is always at the disposal of the construction managers to provide any additional drawings and information that may be needed, as well as to help solve any problems that may arise in the field. By working so closely together, delays are minimized.

Our experience shows that our
construction management fees are generally one-half the mark-up charged by a general
contractor for performing the same functions. But there are many other benefits to be
derived by utilizing the construction management services of Platz Associates. This is
especially true when our construction management expertise is combined with our
architectural/design services.
