
PROJECT: Key Plaza

Key Bank occupies the first
floor of this impressive four story office building which anchors Bangor's downtown Urban
Development area. The entrance way is a four story glass atrium which is complimented by
four stories of circulation walkways overlooking the building entrance.
Platz Associates
chose a structural steel framework and brick facade for the 88,000 square foot structure.
A state of the art "intelligent" mechanical system continually monitors the
building's environment to assure comfort to all tenants. Pre-cast concrete floor decks
allowed for quicker construction while providing immediate "clean" floors for
all the trades to work on once they were set in place. Fiberglass reinforced floor topping
provided a crack free surface for finished floor products. Working with the building owner
as well as the town officials we were able to pick building materials that would
compliment existing architecture in this urban setting. Careful building siting, generous
pedestrian walkways, and ample landscaping have made Key Plaza a welcome addition to
Downtown Bangor.
In addition to Architectural and Engineering services
Platz Associates was engaged to provide Construction Management services for this project.
Our resident site inspector as well as our Construction Engineer were able to assure that
the project was brought in on time and within the budget. The ability of having the
subcontractors working directly for the owner afforded major savings during the project.
