With the goal of integrating a number of Green architectural design features and energy-efficient mechanical systems, Platz Associates both designed and provided construction administration for the new construction of this full-service branch bank on the Route 1 corridor in Saco, Maine.

To achieve USGBC rated LEED Certification, Platz Associates utilized environmentally friendly, renewable, certified and recycled content building materials, low-emitting interior finishes, geothermal technology and reduced electrical load components for long term energy efficiency and more stable costs to heat and cool. The building envelope was designed with energy efficient windows and added wall thickness to accommodate more insulation than traditional building construction. All lighting was automated and controlled with timers and photo sensors.
