Platz Associates was selected by the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society to perform architectural and engineering design as well as construction management for their new animal shelter and professional offices in Lewiston. The resulting 18,700 sq. ft. structure provides a wonderful showcase for the multitude of pets available for adoption, as well as modern facilities for the rehabilitation of abused and abandoned animals.
Important consideration was given to climate control, as there are specific requirements for housing cats that are very different from the other animals. In addition, the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is now in the process of enlarging their facility to include a 5,000 sq. ft. animal training facility. This building addition will expand their range of animal training, care, and community therapy services.
