Central Maine Medical Center retained Platz Associates to act as the Architect, Engineer and Construction Manager for the complete renovation of 29 Lowell Street. This former Knapp Shoe Building, built in the late 1800's, is comprised of five floors and encompasses over 125,000 square feet.  Working closely with hospital administration and staff, Platz Associates programmed the building to handle a variety of new uses including information services, and patient billing.  Interior and exterior of the building were refurbished to bring out the richness of its late 1800's architecture.  The Dempsey Center is located in this building.
